The Blue jay is beautiful, but probably a Born Interloper. In the case of our yard, the ever present territorial Cardinal would probably agree. Where other birds might have a problem with peanuts, the Blue jay seems to be quite at home swooping down from a branch picking-up the largest of peanuts and receding to a branch where peanuts are a non-issue. When the Blue jay enters the scene in our yard it’s presence is felt – everybody else, except the Cardinal at times, gets out of the way.
