Photography is an art form; taking pictures is not an art form. One who uses a camera is not necessarily a photographer. The art is the final portrayal of what the artist envisions, using the photographic medium. A photographer sees the photograph before the picture is taken. A beautiful photograph may be special but may not be art. Art is the purposeful melding of medium with inner vision. Yet, as I believe a successful journey does not require a specific destination at the outset, a finished photograph as art can evolve simply in its journey to envisioned completion.
