Well the answer to the entry “Perplexed” came from Canada. The bird was identified as a “House Finch” and the description fits nicely. The real give-away should have been the difference between the Finch’s beak that is conical and lighter in color and the beak of the Sparrow that is dark and almost black. Although the plumage coloration looked like it could have been a young Thrasher, the beak should have been a give-away that it was not in that family. Great Stuff! – thank you for the assist.
